Dark Horizons is reporting that German director Christoph Schlingensief is in the process of making a controversial new movie based on the last hour of Princess Diana´s life. Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen is on board for the role of Princess Diana.

Apparently 12 hours of footage have already been shot including some scenes at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, where Diana was before her tragic death. The director had the following to say about the project:

"In London, we will have to work secretly because Diana is sacrosanct - and everybody goes jittery the minute you just mention her name. Jenny is my Princess Di because, like Di, she presents a projection surface for longings. She resembles Diana as both of them seem to be within reach, but never are. It can probably never be exactly clarified what happened in that hour of her death. Art has the freedom to interpret this".

To be honest, I think this film borders on the line of disrespectful. Even the director himself is admitting that he will film the last hour of her life having no real idea of exactly what happened in it. This isn´t a movie like "World Trade Centre" or "United 93" where a controversial subject is tackled in a respectful way which says something about a tragic event and its impact on the entire world, instead this just sounds like a director exploiting a very famous figures last hour (in a way he admits himself probably won´t even be factual) for the sake of drumming up some publicity.
