An interview at Dark Horizons with director Richard Kelly regarding his new movie "Southland Tales" reveals the movie is struggling to make it to theatres.

The director reveals problems with the film in the following excerpt:

"What´s disappointing, frustrating is that now I don´t know that Southland Tales will be seen in the United States. Maybe it will, but potentially it could be shown with almost an hour of it missing. I don´t quite know what that film is".

It appears that following a somewhat unsuccessful screening of the three hour cut in Cannes, the movie studios are anxious to release it without drastic editing.

Let´s remember that Kelly´s last movie was "Donnie Darko", arguably the most popular cult film of the last decade. For that reason alone, I have faith that whoever was lucky enough to see the three-hour cut of his new movie, may have just not got the concepts behind it. Then again this could be a gigantic turkey for Kelly of "The Phantom Menace" proportions, who knows!
