IGN Filmforce recently interviewed Sir Ian McKellen in the run up to the release of the new "X Men" movie, and he revealed some surprising information regarding the spin off "Magneto" prequel that is in development.

Apparently the film makers will still use McKellen to play a younger version of himself using a breakthrough photo morphing special effect, that is set to makes it´s technical debut during a flashback sequence in the upcoming "X Men" movie. Here´s what McKellen had to say about it:

"I´ll be playing the part. [laughter] I don´t know if it´s in the [press] notes, the first time that Patrick Stewart and I appear in this film [X-Men: The Last Stand], we appear to be 25 years younger than we are. And that´s been done by a technology never used in film before, which involves no makeup, no special effects whatsoever. We just go into the studio and do the scene as is, and then they morph our faces on to photographs of ourselves 25 years ago. Lo and behold, there we are."

I´m surprised the film makers have managed to keep this revolutionary special effect under wraps for so long. Potentially speaking, this now means that age is no longer a barrier in Hollywood, and just because actors are young they will not immediately have an advantage. Well, that´s if the effect is as good as McKellen makes it sound anyway...
