Imelda Staunton and Hilary Swank are set to star in Paramount Pictures and MTV Films´ drama "Freedom Writers". Richard LaGravenese will direct the feature, which starts shooting next month in Los Angeles.

The project is based on a true story, where a teacher (Swank) is faced with the daunting task of teaching freshman English to a racially diverse class of teenagers. Staunton will play a colleague of Swank´s character. Producer Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg are producing through their Double Feature Films.

David Gale and Loretha Jones are shepherding the project for MTV Films, while Pam Abdy is overseeing for Paramount.

Scott Glenn will play the father of Swank´s character, where R&B singer Mario will play one of the students.
