Apparently according to The Sun, comedian Ben Stiller, is slated to be up for a role in new Ghostbusters movie entitled "Ghostbusters In Hell"!

I myself thought that a third Ghostbusters film was all but dead, but it suddenly appears to be back in development!

The story mentions that Harold Ramis, who plays Egon Spengler in the movies, is apparently directing this entry in the series, and that both Dan Ackroyd and Rick Moranis are coming back as their respective characters, Ray Stantz and Louis Tully.

Bens role is not actually known as yet, however Ramis is quoted as being a huge fan of his work. I get the impression that he may fill the void by the as yet unannounced Bill Murray, who if we go by past statements about another Ghostbusters movie, probably won´t appear in this one. I believe in fact the reason one hasn´t bee made for so long is because Murray owned some of the rights, and refused to star in another sequel, but don´t quote me on that!

Harold Ramis also told the site the basic storyline, written by Dan Ackroyd for the new movie was the following:

"What Dan had originally conceived was sending the characters to a special effects hell - a netherworld of mad visual environments. But what worked so well about the first two films was how it was all so mundane. When the Ghostbusters step out of this portal, it looks just like New York but it´s hell. No cars are moving and all the drivers are swearing at each other in foreign languages. All the worst things about modern urban life - just magnified."

Now we mustn´t get too excited as for all I know, this could just a script which Ackroyd has wrote but hasn´t been green lit yet. However with all this talk of cast returning, and that long quote from Ramis, I believe this may just be for real!

I´m not sure that Ben Stiller could ever replace Bill Murray in delivering such cool wisecracks, but I´m willing to have hope!
