There have been many different interpretations of vampires in films over the years. However they ways in which they can be killed does differ which can lead to a problem if you ever encountered a real vampire but didn't watch the right movie. To prevent this i have decided to start a thread that will provide the ultimate survival guide to killing a movie vampire and the film it appeared in unless the method is too popular to list the films.

ONE METHOD OF DEALING DEATH PER POST PLEASE

I'll start it off with:

Sunlight - Used in most vampire films

Stake through the heart, don't think any films ever argued with that one....although the question of wooden / silver occassionaly comes up...I think the silver stuffs come over from werewolfs though.

Actually thats not quite true, I recall some movie saying that you can only stop a vampire with it, and when the wood rots away the vampire will resurrect...but thats a technicality

Yeah garlic has been used in several films to cause and allergic reaction in vampires so as with all allergic reactions, a really bad one can kill.

Crosses and holy artifacts can ward off vampires and in many films cause burns if touched so again you could kill a vampire if you kept it in contact with a cross or feed it one like in From Dusk Till Dawn.

But in order for the cross to work, you must have faith in it. It was tried in Fright Night, but didn't quite work when the old man pulled it out.

Being shot in the heart with wooden bullets - from Sundown

I forgot all about burying under a crossroads! This is one of the most important rules that was used for real in years past if they feared someone would return as a vampire. Its an insurance policy to do with that if the vampire does emerge it will be confused by the options of places available to go so will stand there trying to work out what to do until the sun comes up! This way it is never able to get back to its family and friends and kill them.
